True Vajrayana is not of any country as commonly known that it is Tibetan Buddhism. It was accepted and popularized in Southern India and made very famous by Tibetan yogis. But Vajrayana cannot be claimed by any people or any country. It is the most powerful esoteric doctrine which was received by Gautama Buddha when he attained enlightenment and every adept who attain the rank of Bodhisattva, Arahat or buddhahood will surely tap this level of divine consciousness.

Vajrayana in India and Tibet, is the highest form of tantric yoga, the knowledge of letters, its color, its sounds and its vibration; and the combination of letters which becomes mantras in its proper tune in the musical scale and its concordant vibrations in the spiritual sphere which later become formulas with its attendant deities, yidams and mandalas. These yidams which are all inside the microcosmic body of man represents the macrocosmic forces of the universe, visible and invisible. It is really the knowledge of Kalachakra Tantra which is more properly called the Kalachakra Laghutantra.

In South America, this Vajrayana was first exoterically manifested by the Avatar Quetzalcotl, a king of Toltec lineage. There it is known as Nahuatl or the science of Nagualism. Further research reveals that this Science also contains knowledge of letter and mantras and the firing of kundalini or serpent fire in the spine. It is the science of the feathered serpent that why Quetzacotl was called the initiate of the feathered or plumed serpent. It is popularized in the early seventies in the United States by the anthropologists Carlos Castaneda who learned of this knowledge from his mentors Don Juan Matus and Don Genaro of Mexican Nagual lineage.

In truth, even in Northern America, there was a sage and messenger of light of the Great Spirit named Haiawatha. Hiawatha (also known as Ayenwatha, Aiionwatha, or Haiëñ'wa'tha; Onondaga), who lived in the 1500s, and was variously a leader of the Onondaga and Mohawk nations of Native Americans.

Hiawatha was the Great Peacemaker, a prophet and spiritual leader who was credited as the founder of the Iroquois confederacy, (referred to as Haudenosaunee by the people). Hiawatha was a skilled and charismatic orator, and was instrumental in persuading the Iroquois peoples, the Senecas, Cayugas, Onondagas, Oneidas, and Mohawks, a group of Native North Americans who shared similar languages, to accept his vision and band together to become the Five Nations of the Iroquois confederacy. Later, the Tuscarora nation joined the Confederacy to become the Sixth Nation.

He revealed a technique of the same essence as Vajrayana that even today, certain American Indian tribes practice the snake dance by using Kundalini power to control weather. They have even also the knowledge of the rainbow body popularized by tibetan Vajra Siddhas and you will see that they only believe in one God they call the Great Grandfather or Great Spirit.

Even in the early 1800's there was an American Indian mystic and prophet who today is very much maligned in profane history have taught this knowledge to his people together with his brother Tecumseh. He was a great visionary and communed with the Great Spirit.

So Vajrayana has been there since man sojourned the earth. It has been there in the continent of Mu, in Atlantis, in Egypt and in South America. It is the knowledge of the cosmic energy in the spine together with its attendant chakras or lotuses which in modern medical science are called ganglions with its attendant rami. It is also the Science which Tibetans call the oozing or the manifesting of the drops which in modern science is called the secretion of the glands known today as hormones. The awakening and firing of these ganglions along the spine and the quickening into a high vibratory rate, these glands lead to higher consciousness and enlightenment. This is Vajrayana, The Diamond Vehicle.

Only idiots, unscholarly and uninitiated people will ever say that Vajrayana is from Tibet. But we owe the Tibetan Masters because they preserved these teachings in their country. And we pay our respects and gratitude to them. Also, that is why guruji travelled the world. He learned Vajrayana or the essence of Kalachara Laghutantra from different sources. He got the lineage from the teachings of Paramahamsa Yogananda and in India, from the lineages of Lahiri Mahasaya and Paramahamsa Nityananda Giri. We also have lineages from the disciple of the great master Swami Sivananda Saraswati specifically from His Holiness Swami Krishnananda Saraswati. Even Fra. JL travelled to America to get an aspect of this knowledge from Indian Shamans and Naguals. We must also pay respect to the Mahavatar, the great Master, Babaji for revealing Kriya Yoga, a very high aspect of Kalachakra Laghutantra to the world. So, in learning this Vajrayana wisdom, one must not only read books or imbibe teachings because no adept will reveal it in printed form to the public to follow the law of not throwing pearls unto the swine and from further misunderstanding the teachings and the techniques. Our Order, the Vajrayana Order, the Path Royale, disseminates this knowledge, wisdom and attendant techniques in our lessons and through oral teachings by Fra. JL. Vajrayana is the property of the Great White Lodge and the esoteric Blue Lodge or known in the East as the company of Buddhas and bodhisattvas. Even in the Himalayas, the elusive kuthumpas and azaras know this to be a fact. Therefore, it is the birthright of humanity. It is the gift of God to us humans especially if we seek Vajrayana with humility, sincerity and loyalty.

Vajrayana in India

There are differing views as to just where Vajrayana started, some claiming that it began in Udyana - the modern day Swat valley in Pakistan, while others say that it began in southern India.

The earliest texts appeared around the early 4th century. Nalanda University in northern India became a center for the development of Vajrayana theory. India would continue as the source of leading-edge Vajrayana practices up through the 11th century.

Vajrayana had mostly died out in India by the 13th century, experiencing pressure from the rising importance of Islam. By that time, the vast majority of the practices were also made available in Tibet, where they were preserved until recently.

In the second half of the 20th century a sizeable number of Tibetan exiles fled the oppressive anti-religious rule of the Communist Chinese to establish Tibetan Vajrayana communities in northern India, particularly around Dharamsala. They remain the primary practitioners of Vajrayana in India and the entire world.

Vajrayana in China

Vajrayana followed the same route into northern China as Buddhism itself, arriving from India via the Silk Road some time during the first half of the 7th century. It arrived just as Buddhism was reaching its zenith in China, receiving sanction from the emperors of the Tang Dynasty. The Tang capital at Chang'an (modern-day Xi'an) became an important center for Buddhist studies, and Vajrayana ideas no doubt received great attention as pilgrim monks returned from India with the latest texts and methods.

Vajrayana in Tibet and other Himalayan Kingdoms

In 747 the Indian saint Padmasambhava traveled from Afghanistan to bring Vajrayana to Tibet and Bhutan, at the request of the king of Tibet. This was the original transmission which anchors the lineage of the Nyingma school. During the 11th century and early 12th century a second important transmission occurred with the lineage of Atisa, Marpa and Brogmi, giving rise to the other schools of Tibet, namely Kagyupa, Kadampa, Sakyapa, and Gelukpa (the school of the Dalai Lama).

Vajrayana in Japan

In 804, Emperor Kammu sent the intrepid monk Kukai to the Tang Dynasty capital at Chang'an (present-day Xi'an) to retrieve the latest evolutionary knowledge. Kukai absorbed the Vajrayana thinking and synthesized a version which he took back with him to Japan, where he founded the important Shingon school, a school which continues to this day.

Vajrayana in Indonesia and Malaysia

In the late 8th century, Indian models of Vajrayana traveled directly to the Indonesian island of Java where a huge temple complex at Borobudur was soon built. The empire of Srivijaya was a centre of Vajrayana learning and Atisha studied there under Serlingpa, an eminent Buddhist scholar and a prince of the Srivijayan ruling house. Vajrayana survived in Indonesia and Malaysia until eclipsed by Islam in the 13th century.

Vajrayana in Mongolia

In the 13th century, long after the original wave of Vajrayana had died out in China itself, two Tibetan eminent Sakyapa teachers, Sakya Pandita Kunga Gyaltsen and Chogyal Phagpa, visited the Mongolian royal court. Marco Polo was serving the royal court at about the same time. In a competition between Christians, Moslems, and Buddhists held before the royal court, Prince Godan found Vajrayana to be the most satisfactory and adopted it as his personal spiritual belief, although not requiring it of his subjects. As Kublai Khan had just conquered China (establishing the Yuan Dynasty), his adoption of Vajrayana led to the renewal of Tantric practices in China as the ruling class found it useful to emulate their leader.

Vajrayana would decline in China and Mongolia with the fall of the Yuan Dynasty, replaced by resurgent Daoism, Confucianism, and Pure Land Buddhism. However, Mongolia would see yet another revival of Vajrayana in the 17th century, with the establishment of ties between the Dalai Lama in Tibet and the remnants of the Mongol Empire. This revived the historic pattern of the spiritual leaders of Tibet acting as priests to the rulers of the Mongol empire. Vajrayana is still practiced as a way of life in Mongolia today despite more than 80 years of state-sponsored communism.

Vajrayana in the Philippines

In the Philippines, the Vajra mystics landed in Cebu and later settled in what is now known as Tolosa, Leyte. In the 1930’s, a Vajrayana initiate named Ba-Di-Ke and his co-workers, among whom was Ponciano, operated in Leyte and Cebu.

The current high officers of the Vajrayana are descendants of these Vajra initiates. Some of these officers were further initiated into authentic Vajrayana schools in India and the Himalayas. At present, the Vajrayana school is spreading its wings in various parts of the country. Ignorance of the masses is slowly being transformed to wisdom; poverty into prosperity; selfishness into charity; worry into peace; fear into love; love of self into service. For so long a time, we have been kept in the darkness. Now, the light of the Order is being shed upon all humble and eager souls. And as a recipient of its light, let us take this chance of spreading the good news to others. You may do so by continuously giving out brochures to your family, friends, or even to those you casually meet . Let us all be harbingers of light and bring back love to humanity!
